On Saturday February 4th, Cutter was thrilled to support the F.A.C.E.S. Institute by co-hosting the ACE Entertainment Summit. The event focused on “Getting Your Foot in the Door” and brought together over 45 women to discuss best practices when developing an entertainment career. Keynote speaker Brittany Rostron, kicked off the event by discussing how to approach an artistic career like an entrepreneur. After that, career coach Kathleen Castro provided tips on how to create the most effective resume and cover letter for the entertainment industry. At the end of the day, participants engaged in a Q&A session led by Hillary Cutter of Cutter Productions with experienced women in the industry such as Aubrey Smyth, Ashley Van Buren, Tiffani Gray, Meghan Dineen and Tara McHugh. Can’t wait for the next summit!
Roster director Aubrey Smyth just wrapped an integrated video for Campbell’s Well Yes! Soups starring Busy Phillips, who’s also currently seen in HBO’s Vice Principals. The video, via Man with a Cam and Edelman, launched right after New Year’s and reframes the narrative around resolutions by encouraging people to say “yes” to small things all year long. The spot plays perfectly to Smyth’s comedic strengths directing women – check it out.
Our Cutter Connections mentorship events to benefit young women in the production community were first launched a year and a half ago. Recently, we held our fourth event and celebrated our 150th attendee! Over 60 women gathered for a Cutter Connection evening focused on integrated production, with mentors from NBC Sports, Syfy, Spike TV, BBDO, Grey Advertising, CBS’s The Good Fight and more. “Thank YOU for providing all of this and giving us a platform to meet wonderful mentors and mentees!” volunteered one mentee who’s just starting out in production. And a mentor told us, “I felt really inspired. Thank you.” Special thanks to our sponsors, Splacer, BIGPIE, and Cinematcher! On February 4, 2017 Cutter Connections is presenting the Inaugural ACE Entertainment Summit: “Get Your Foot in the Door” event. Click here for Summit details!
