Multi-award-winning director Marcelo Bukin creates films and campaigns usually crossing the line between documentary, fiction and commercial storytelling. His human, character-driven and high-impact visual style has earned him international praise and recognition. He has worked with giants like Unilever, MTV, Discovery, NBC, Google, MoMA, DDB, Publicis, McCann Erickson and many others. Recent campaigns include shoots with Hellmann’s, Ragu, Knorr, P&G, Starbucks, Citibank, Intel, Olympus and Sony.
Bukin’s work received recognitions in more than 200 international film festivals. Among those, his film Angel’s Fire won top honors receiving the prestigious IDA Award in Los Angeles, and was selected at DocuWeek™ for Academy Awards consideration. His films Bread, Welcome to Poptun, Mauris from Titicaca and Lima’s Streets toured the world receiving jury and audience acclaim. Bukin’s latest feature documentary Dreaming Nicaragua won the prestigious Gold Award at FIPA in France, the FIDH Award in Belgium, the Jury Prize at NIFF and the Prize of the Spanish Association of Scientific Film. In addition, it was presented by the U.S. Embassy in Managua, Amnesty International in Europe, universities, museums and more than 100 international film festivals. Marcelo was also awarded the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) grant for this project.
