ABC’s popular foodie talk show The Chew recently aired new holiday promos helmed by Cutter roster director Chandler Kauffman and produced by Cutter. The campaign takes on a nostalgic feeling, as hosts Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Clinton Hall, Carla Hall and Daphne Oz relate anecdotes and memories of their childhood holidays intercut with retro footage from the same era. PromaxBDA featured the work as a Hot Spot on December 7. Check out the campaign here.
Chandler Kauffman and Cutter were thrilled to help bring the launch promo for People/Entertainment Weekly Network (PEN) to life for the creative production studio Versus. The promo brings a new twist to Maxell’s classic “Blown Away” spot…
Soon before Saturday Night Live brought on Melissa Villasenor as the show’s first-ever Latina cast member (she just debuted on October 1), roster director Chandler Kauffman showcased her in Funny Girl, a mini-doc for OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) that he also wrote. Check it out for highlights from one of Melissa’s hilarious Improv shows, plus her reflections on what motivates her as a comedienne. Congrats on SNL, Melissa — we can’t wait to see you steal the show! Plus, stay tuned for new commercial work from Chandler for ABC, People/Entertainment Weekly Network, and more.
Roster director Aubrey Smyth continues to build her brand and expand on female narratives with Peculiar Beauty, a new campaign for women’s magazine Glamour. As director, Aubrey worked with Glamour via Man With A Cam in NYC to help defeat preconceived notions of beauty. The campaign profiles women who accept things about their appearance that society has seen as peculiar, from freckles to curly hair.
Aubrey’s also busy with her short film and other projects. After winning the Audience Choice Award at the IndieWorks: August Screening in NYC, her short film Ginger with a Snap screened at the 11th Annual Broad Humor Film Festival in LA. And her music video Vulva Face (a parody of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face) premiered at The 16th Annual Coney Island Film Festival in September.
Plenty of caffeine was on hand for Cutter’s recent shoot for client Blinds To Go via agency Modular. The team shot from dusk to dawn to capture scenes for the Bedtime campaign, which showcases the client’s remote and app-controlled blinds. English and French Canadian versions were then created. Special congrats to all our friends at Modular on their new branding!
Last Thursday, July 21st, Cutter hosted its third successful Cutter Connections mentorship event in a Manhattan suite provided by Audio Network. This summer, the theme was Audio + Music, two fields Cutter recognizes as integral to the entire post production process. Throughout the night, aspiring young women looking to pursue careers relating to the world of sound, met and mingled with female professionals holding titles that included Music Supervisor, Producer, Licensing Manager, Publisher, Audio Mixer, and several other positions the mentees may not have even known existed! The mentors generously shared their experiences working for top companies such as Viacom, Roc Nation, Showtime, Vice, Warner Music Group, and many more! After thanking us for the opportunity to meet “women who are constantly revolutionizing and thriving in their industries,” one of the mentees praised the event, claiming, “Everyone was looking out for each other and so willing to help each other out, which was really refreshing and inspiring to see in this industry.” With such a great response from its attendees, Cutter plans on hosting many more events just like this in the future!
Earlier this month, Hillary Cutter co-moderated the first MusiConverg Summit along with Jeremy Stennett, the Strategic Director at The Lifestyle Agency. The event’s purpose was to offer guidance to songwriters, composers, performing artists and producers to aid them in achieving additional success in their musical careers. Attendees were offered tips for financial success and creating a marketing strategy, as well as legal assistance with copyrighting their intellectual property and reviewing entertainment contracts. Cutter is proud to have participated in an event that guided its audience to new heights, while continuing to augment the company’s passion for mentorship. We wanted to extend a thank you to Jeremy and all of the panelists that joined us from companies that included Warner Music Group, BMI and Audio Network. We plan to continue our path of guidance in events like this in order to bring out the future leaders in the entertainment industry!
The Cutter Team took off to the City of Lights as one of the ten carefully selected vendors showcased at the Supplier Diversity Networking Reception during the NAB 2016 Conference. The event took place at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, right in Elvis’ old suite! We were excited to be in the company of two fellow women-owned creative companies, The Studio and Beyond Curious. Cutter was also able to catch up with our clients at ABC Entertainment Marketing and meet new prospects from CBS, Disney, ESPN, NBC, and Time Warner.
